Feast of Flesh

When a member of the Aburame clan dies, there is no funeral. Instead, long before the body grows cold, the bugs begin to eat. They eat until the body is gone, until there is nothing else, and then they wait. When another baby is born, the bugs are transferred over to the new body, and once again, they wait, feeding on the chakra, until that body dies, too.

Shino has his grandfather's bugs. Before that, they were his great-uncle's, and his great-great-grandmother's. His bugs go all the way back, to the first Aburame who ever spoke with the bugs, and somehow, that makes him special. His bugs were the first, and so they're heavier than the others. Shino's important, Shino's great, Shino's the hope and dream and every fucking little thing of the clan. The bugs crawl under his skin, through his veins, and they posion him, slowly, from the inside, just like all the words of praise posion him from the outside, and, as he's posioned, as he slowly dies, the bugs wait for their next feast.




And I also love Iruka. Iruka!

Blue-Eyed Demon

Iruka has a blue-eyed demon. It’s three years old, and it cries like a baby. He doesn’t like it, hates the way it looks at him and laughs, with tears still in its eyes. He hates the way it follows him, but that’s not anything that amazing. The demon follows anyone who doesn’t kick it, tugging at their pantlegs and petting their hands. Yes, Iruka has a blue-eyed demon, and he hates it.

He hates it when it looks up at him with its blue eyes (-his mother had had blue eyes, beautiful and clear. His father used to say that’s why he married her, for her pretty blue eyes-), looking almost human. He hates the way it smiles (-his father used to smile like that, wide grin and squinting eyes-) at him. More than anything, he hates that his parents got traded in for this demon. He wants his parents, not some sniveling little thing that laughs too loud and cries too hard.

"Leave me alone," he growls as threateningly as he can, but it just smiles up at him, face red and tear-stained, and pets his hand. "Leave me alone," he repeats, and it laughs, daring to grab his pantleg, holding on tight. He wants to kick it, or hit it, or push it away, but he never does.

After all, it's his blue-eyed demon.

Oh very nice! I like both of these quite a bit. The Shino drabble could easily be true, but I like to think he isn't poisoned from within because I like him. The Iruka fic captures his mixed feelings decidedly well. This is a nice treat for returning from my trip.

The trip went well and quickly. It was Florida. Sea World was a sucess for which I am extremely greatful. The boy had good times and poor times. My mother is strict and frankly so am i. I went without the beloved to curb my excesses so it could have been better.

Yes! There needs to be mre focus on pre-Mizuki-incident Iruka and his feelings towards Naruto!

Oh, Shino! The drabble was great! Not enough things 'bout Shino. The poor thing, I would hug him if I wasn't afraid of bugs.

And younger!Iruka and baby!Naruto! Eheheh... I love Iruka's kind-of denial. Very nice drabble!

Oh, and I'll be gone for about two weeks. Washington ^_^ My sixth time in the US. I'll see (? more like read?) you when I get back!

I love your Ruka drabble thingy ! :DD So cute , and I love his reason for not kicking or being mean to Naruto ... it is his , after all ... ;D

And the Shino one was very creative . First take on Shino that I see it made that way . ^^

Actually, I had this whole theory, that I didn't get into, because I didn't want to write anything long.

As I see it, bugs are tiny, mini clans. So Shino's bugs are one hive of bugs, while his father's are a different hive. So, it's the same hive, but different bugs. They live, eat, breed, and die, but all from the same clan. See?

Wow, the Shino idea is pure brilliance. So many possibilities. One question - if the bugs only move when the former host dies, and the bugs were in both Shino's great uncle and his grandfather, does that imply that the great uncle was an older sibling of the grandfather who died before the grandfather was born? I think so, because a great uncle is a grandparent's brother. OK, sorry to worry over that. It just puzzled me momentarily. I'm all better now.
