Sad. Nice metaphor. Nice parallels. Somehow Asuma seems more human here than almost anywhere else I've ever read him. Makes me want to rethink him - maybe even write him myself. And so, so sad. A wholly inadaquate word to describe the bottomless, numb misery reading this made me feel, empathizing with Asuma as he dealt with the bodies of the departed. Sad. You have a way with sadness.
