I'm a bad student. A really, really bad student. As in, I'm probably going to lose my scholarship because I never go to class kind of student.

So, rather than go to class, I am here, typing up a drabble. Don't you love me? Please say yes.

It really wouldn't bother Iruka so much that his bathroom was pink if it wasn't supposed to be white. White on white on white, white tiles, white grout, white porcelain. White. And every time Kakashi or Naruto came over, the bathroom would magically become pink. Because Kakashi and Naruto? They were pranksters. They laughed at Iruka and punched him in his arm and rigged up water over his door, so when he opened it, he'd get soaked. And he always let them, just like he always let them turn his bathroom pink.

Kakashi and Naruto were shinobi, strong men, and they couldn't cry, couldn't take the time to let out a few tears and frustrations, so they'd come over to Iruka's apartment with laughs, and when they'd leave, Iruka's bathroom would be pink, and Iruka would be not-quite-smiling.

Not-quite-smiling meant a lot to Iruka. He was a cheerful person, or as cheerful as a person could be when they taught children how to kill for a living. To not-quite-smile at anyone meant something had happened that hit something in Iruka, made him just a little bit angry, a little bit upset. Like his bathroom. His pink bathroom.

Because every time, Kakashi or Naruto, or sometimes both, would come to his apartment and, laughing, excuse themselves from Iruka's living room. And when they'd leave, Iruka would walk into his bathroom, and pink towels on pink tile with pink grout would stare back at him, accusingly.

Your fault, your fault, it would taunt, pink pink pink, and Iruka would not-quite-smile and not-quite-laugh and not-quite-scream. And then he'd kneel, motions pulling new and old wounds alike, and with actions practiced into perfection over the years - your fault, your fault, all these years, your fault - begin to wash the blood from the tiles.

Crangst. Uh-huh. I'm gonna go watch Firefly, rather than go to class. Such a bad student!

!!! very wonderful work as always. when it comes to plot twist, or any twist, i'm blind as a bat so that last paragraph hit me quite hard. this drabble was very deceptive! appears all nice and cute at first...i have to go but definitely will give this a read over later (surprises always leaves me wondering what i'd missed) enjoy your firefly and um, although it sounds contradictory to say, good luck with those classes! we do <3 you ^^

Here I was, expecting cutness, and then I get to the end and my brain goes "Agghh! No! Sad! Errg!"
So if you ment to mislead the reader, it worked well. *smiles* Lovely, if a bit vague. I keep thinking it should be a side fic to something larger, but it makes sense on it's own, just vaguer sense. Rereading it again, it's the pranksters line that throws me, making me think this is going to be funny. Rereading it, it makes sense.

Can't think of anything that hasn't already been said about the drabble. I had to read through it three times, that last paragraph got me. Very nice! Like all you work. And of course we love you! (I skipped classes today too.)

I seem to have a thing for torturing Iruka. And I'm so glad he seems disconnected and about to snap. Iruka...well, he's fun, but he's a whole lot funner when he's not all sane. ^_^;

The misdirection was good. I was completely going with your prankster aspect, although a little voice at the back of my mind kept suggesting I was overlooking the obvious. (Of course, I got to the end and inwardly kvetched - but blood doesn't look pink, even smeared over white - because I'm just too much of a gore junkie myself.)

But the thing, of course, that's actually powerful here, whether it's blood or a benign prank, is Iruka's notion that whatever is happening to these people he loves - pain direct or misdirected, is that, as a teacher who molds shinobi, all harm that comes to them is his fault. A beautiful avenue to explore.

Well done.

@__________@ AHHHH!!!! I was all like "OMG! :D ITS SOOO CUTE! ^-^ **read read rea-....** OMG!!!!! NOOOOOO ANGST!!!! #_@" lol You really got me. I thought you wrote something really cute, and it is... if you don't read the last paragraph. If you do read it, it becomes angst, and then you read it again and it like T_T makes you almost cry. Your good... >_>

gah. You're mean. I started reading, thought "white into pink... blood!", then reached the prankster line, thought "no, wait, this isn't THAT kind of story" then at the end it turned out it was. You really like to make Iruka suffer, right? Why must be always torture our favourites? XD
