I'll be honest. I detest AU and High School fics in general. The reason for writing them escapes me, for the original abilities and histories, what makes the character the character, are lost.
So, I have no idea why I like this one so much or find it so powerful. I keep coming back to the way I've always thought of these things, if the author's good enough, they can make your favourite character change gender, kill their best friend and live on a different planet and yet still provide a totally enjoyable, believable read. Like this one.
There's something atmospheric and potent about the way you write - some sadness and soul that reminds me of a sepia photograph, but in print. Your stories give me that same sense of sweet melancholy. I've never read anything of yours that I dislike, and that's not something I can say for any other author.
